In this restoration project, a customer approached me with a gunstock featuring a severely damaged checkering pattern that had seen better days. The goal was to revive this once-beautiful feature, restoring both its aesthetic appeal and functional grip. Throughout the project, I carefully assessed the extent of the damage and meticulously worked to recreate the original checkering design. With precision carving tools, I reshaped and redefined each diamond pattern, ensuring a seamless blend with the surrounding wood. The restored checkering not only enhances the stock's visual charm but also revitalizes its performance, making it a cherished piece for the customer once again.
